Family Values

How does one choose their family values? What do you think makes somone talk the way they do or discipline their children the way they do?
I ask for advice on certain parenting topics all the time but I wonder what makes one advice "better" than the other? How do you compromise with your significant other on parenting aspects that differ from theirs? As a social worker would we deal with these kinds of issues? I think we would.

  1. Being able to see the value in many viewpoints, even those radically different than your own, is harder for some of us. Especially with a topic so intimate as child rearing.

Judgement helps no one, both professionally and personally. I believe compromise will be a good keyword for all of us in this field.
